Happy Holiday Winter Scene

Angie has come up with some lovely inspiration photos for us for the Magnolia-licious Highlites challenge for November!  The east is already experiencing the white stuff, but at least we haven't yet!!!  Our time will come!!!

I wanted to use a few different minis for my scene.  If I would do it again, I would do the layout a little different.  Isn't that always the way it goes!!!

The minis I've used are from Magnolia-licious of course!!!
MINI 147 EDWIN ON SLED
MINI 448 SANTA'S BENCH
MINI 568 WINTER FOREST
MINI 3076 TILDA IN WINTER LIGHT

These are quite popular, so two are out of stock right now, but please check with Diana at Magnolia-licious .

These images are water colored with Distress Inks and the background is also sponged with Distress Inks.   I've added some punched snowflakes from Punch Bunch and Martha Stewart.  The Happy Holidays stamp is Hero Arts and I've added white with a Souffle pen on the trees and white gel pen for the "dot" snowflakes.

You will want to check out the Stay Put Craft Mats.   Even if someone has the old style craft mat, you will love to have this one because they are so much better!  On the old one, my corners would keep curling up and it would slide around.  Doesn't happen with this one, it is fantastic to work on whether you are heat embossing, smearing inks, or gluing!  Check it out for yourself or would be a perfect gift for that crafter that seems to have everything.  I couldn't believe the difference working on this mat.  Makes my crafting much easier!

I hope you will join us in the challenge for your chance at a great prize sponsored by Diana at Magnolia-licious.  Not only that, but it is fun and a good way to get another Holiday card done!!!

Enjoy every day!

You can find all this collection in both regular and minis at Magnolia-licious and Diana has the new Sweet Christmas Dreams collection now available too!  Oh, talk about cute!!!  I got myself a "few" early Christmas presents!!!  :)  Well okay, yes it is more than a few, but can't wait to color those too!  Such great service at Magnolia-licious.  They got here so quickly thanks to Diana and crew.  I get to go on a little stamping retreat this weekend, so they are traveling with me!!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Tilda Flower

Tilda is the center of attention when she is used for the center of a flower!  The minis work so nicely for this type of thing!  I've also used an Embossie (see post below) for the background.

Tilda is the MINI #3034 TILDA WITH BUTTERFLY JEANS!  As you can see, you don't see the cute jeans she has on, but she is still a cutie in partial stamping!!!  I've also used the #34 WILD STRAWBERRY LEAVES DOOHICKEY DIE and the #9 DRAGONFLIES DOOHICKEY DIE.   Tilda is water colored with Distress Inks:  Tattered rose-skin, Wild Honey-hair, Faded Jeans-dress, Pumice Stone-shading.
These can be found at Magnolia-licious where  Diana has an awesome selection of the Magnolia products and more!  The new Sweet Christmas Dreams collection is in along with the mini sizes and they are just the sweetest images!!!
Have also used Punch Bunch groovy flower, sunflower and heart punches along with circle Spellbinder dies.  The corners are Creative Memories and I've used the Stardust pen and white gel pen for accents.  The word stamp is Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by and checking in!!!

Enjoy every day!

Almost Amethyst Birthday Card With Embossies

I've made use of some of my dies for a Birthday card for someone very special!!!  The card has made its way to Australia, so now I can post it!   I've used SU's old Almost Amethyst card stock and sponged Versamark ink around the edges of the pieces to give it some depth and variation.

The Magnolia DooHickey dies I used are:
#9 DRAGONFLIES    (USED TO MAKE EMBOSSIE--see below)
#26 HEART SWIRL
#29 SWIRL BUTTERFLY
#34 WILD STRAWBERRY AND FLOWERS
#36 VINTAGE DAISIES

I really love using these dies, they are such great shapes!!!  Find these and much more at Magnolia-licious!  Awesome place to find Magnolia and other great things!!!  The new DooHickey dies that are coming out are listed for Pre-Order too!  I certainly have my eye on a bunch of those!!!
The doily is a Marianne Designs die, the inside frame is a Spellbinders and the border is a Martha Stewart punch.  The words are Stampin' Up and I've added some rhinestones for some glitz. This is another card inspired by Elly's beautiful work!
The embossed background was made with what I am calling an Embossie.  It isn't a new idea, it is kind of like making your own embossing folder except it isn't a folder, so more like a texture plate.

To make an Embossie:
  • Out of card stock, cut out 6 of the large dragonflies from the #9 DOOHICKEY DRAGONFLIES DIES.  I used a fairly decent thickness of card stock.  If using a light weight card stock, you might have to make double thick dragonflies.
  • Adhere the dragonflies to a piece of 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square card stock .  Cut off dragonfly parts that hang over the edge.
  • Make a sandwich to run through your machine.  I have a Cuttlebug, so I used the A plate, B plate, the Embossie, card stock for the background, the No More Shims Embossing Mat and another  B plate.   For the Big Shot, use the similar plate set up for embossing folders along with the No More Shims Embossing Mat.  It should be firm to crank it through, but not forced!
Here is an example where I did the dragonflies in black card stock, so you can see them easier.  (Obviously this doesn't have the parts hanging over the edge trimmed yet.)
The No More Shims Embossing Mat has replaced my old SB mat!  I love how I don't have to keep experimenting with shims to get the right thickness any more.  Now I can make more Embossies with any of the dies or punches that I have!  Either side of the embossed card stock can be used whether you want embossed or debossed!
Here are a couple of samples showing both sides.  I've rubbed the Versamark ink pad over them to make the images stand out more.

All machines vary, but this combination has worked beautifully with my Cuttlebug.  Just my opinion, but believe that is why this mat will adjust to everyone's machines because it is soft but thicker than the other mats I've used.  This mat has been a big hit in Europe!

HERE is a link to order from Magnolia-licious and additional ideas and information.  Making Embossies, is just one of the many things we can do with these mats!!!  I think they are terrific and I need more time to play and experiment with them.  But even if I just use them for the sake of no shims, it is well worth it!!!

If you make an Embossie, please let me know, I would love to see what you make with it!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Enjoy every day!

Get Well Soon With Doctor Edwin and Nurse Tilda

We have "Only One Life to Live" "As The World Turns" at the "General Hospital"
with the "Young and Restless" featuring Nurse Tilda & Dr. Edwin!
What a fun blog hop we are having at Magnolia-licious Highlites today!!!  Whether you are a soap opera fan or not, we have all been involved with Doctors and Nurses at one time or another.  If you have come from that awesome masker and colorist Mindy, you are following along the right path.  If you came on your own, please go to Magnolia-licious Highlites to get the blog order and also see how you can join in!  Always fantastic prizes from that generous Diana at  Magnolia-licious!

I had so many ideas that I thought would work for this theme, and ended up with a get well card and doctor's bag to put some goodies in.
 I've used:
#000 DOCTOR EDWIN  A Magnolia-licious Exclusive!!!
#307 NURSE TILDA
#19 MINI ZIG ZAG AND SCALLOP DOOHICKEY DIES
#21 ROMANTIC TAG DOOHICKEY DIE

I used the little hearts that came out of the Romantic Tag for extra embellishments.

Find these and all wonderful things Magnolia HERE at Magnolia-licious!  Doctor Edwin and Nurse Tilda are available in minis too!  Excellent service, check out the extra good deal on the main page and especially nice people too!!!  What more can you ask for!!!
The Get Well Soon stamp is Just Rite, the inside verse is Stampin' Up, the embossing folder is the Cuttlebug mosaic, the metal star brads are Stampin' Up and also added black and white gingham ribbon.  The heart monitor tape was just freehand.

Water colored Edwin and Tilda on watercolor paper with the distress inks.

The bag was created from a pattern from Barbara Anders.  Darling isn't it?  Thanks for sharing the info Barbara.  This could be used for so many different things.  The box was a breeze to make with the Scor-Pal.  Don't settle for any of those knock off imitations....the Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy are the best!

Things to put in the box for get well; cup of soup, kleenex, and cough drops.  CHOCOLATE is always good too!  Works for any occasion!

Now there is one more blog to hop to and you will want to go to Barb's blog next to see what that talented gal has to offer!  I've already seen it and it is adorable!!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will join us for the challenge!!!  Always appreciate the lovely comments that are left!  They are very encouraging and go straight to the heart!!!

Enjoy every day!
